Looking back at some wonderful evenings of worship and community
Led worship for evening service. Played 'The Prodigal Road' and 'Alive in You' plus some hymns the congregation requested.
"Pastor Jim asked me to come back in the fall. Mrs. Henderson brought homemade peach cobbler for after service."
Fundraiser for the new playground equipment. Small acoustic set with just me and my guitar.
"Raised $847 for the playground. Little Sarah requested 'Jesus Loves Me' three times."
Intimate acoustic evening. Played some new songs I've been working on plus audience favorites.
"Owner Sarah made the best chamomile tea. Guy in the corner was taking notes during 'Glass Between Heaven.'"
Special guest for VBS closing ceremony. Sang with the kids' choir for proud parents and grandparents.
"Kids taught me their version of 'This Little Light of Mine' with new verses they wrote."
Afternoon set at the annual spring festival. Played between the pie contest and dog show.
"Mrs. Patterson's apple pie won again. Her grandson asked if I knew any Taylor Swift songs."
Led worship for midweek service. Quiet, intimate evening of prayer and praise.
"Mr. Davis shared about his granddaughter's healing. Not a dry eye in the house."
Private party for the Henderson family's eldest. Played under the old oak tree by the pond.
"Emma's going to nursing school. Her mom cried when I played 'Where the Light Begins.'"
Community Easter sunrise service. Played as the sun came up over the valley.
"Coldest Easter morning in years. Coffee and donuts never tasted so good after."
Monthly open mic. Tried out 'Still Got a Name' for the first time in public.
"Nervous about the new song but folks seemed to connect with it. Jazz pianist went after me."
Monthly men's gathering. Led a couple songs before breakfast and testimony time.
"Deacon Williams brought his famous biscuits and sausage gravy. Ate way too much."
Church-hosted Valentine's dinner for couples and singles. Played romantic worship songs.
"The Johnsons renewed their vows after 40 years. Beautiful evening for everyone."
Watch night service to welcome 2024. Played until midnight with prayer and reflection.
"Prayed in the new year together. Mrs. Chen brought homemade dumplings for everyone."
